New York Yankees Win World Championship No. 27

Published by violetteb at 12:44 am under Baseball, Post Season, World Series Edit This

It has been quiet here at New York Yankees Baseball, but it hasn’t been quiet in New York or here in Philadelphia. Oh yes, this New York Yankee fan reports from within enemy territory. That hasn’t stopped us from supporting the team. My daughter has taken one for the team nearly every day donning her Yankee gear to school.

But now we can celebrate! The New York Yankees win their 27th World Championship 4 games to 2 against the defending 2008 World Championship Philadelphia Phillies.

Jeter, Pettite, Pasada and Rivera will pick up their fifth World Series rings and many new team members pick up their first. Can’t say enough what a great series it was and have to say I really expected it to go 7 games before the start of the series. The Phillies are a great team and I do claim being a fan…when they are not playing the Yankees. I’m allowed since it usually doesn’t conflict with my American League allegiance.

Congratulations to Hideki Matsui for winning the World Series’ MVP Award, the first for a regular DH. We hope to see you in pinstripes next year. And congratulations to all the New York Yankees who made this happen…that would be ALL OF YOU!
